Affordable, adaptable, and accessible, paper-based crafts are a natural fit for library programs.  This site offers up a selection of paper-based craft themes, as well as one-off activities that can be adapted and amended for a wide range of ages and interests.  Many of the crafts on this site, from jewelry, to scrapbooks, to paper airplanes and origami, can be made even on the slimmest of budgets by recycling damaged library books.

In the Research section you will find information on the developmental benefits of craft programs for children.  There are also tips on finding funding for your activities, and a real-life success story to encourage and inspire.

The Programming section covers paper craft activities, suggested themes (combining activities and reading material), promotions that will help attract participants to your library's craft programs and a means for evaluating your work.

The Resources section provides paper craft-related books for a variety of topics, from family trees to piñatas, diaries to flight.  We offer fiction books, perfect for read-alouds or book clubs, and non-fiction books, many also suitable for read-alouds, others of an educational nature.  There is also a selection of websites that we hope you'll find useful.

Finally, you will find a complete list of sources in our References section.
